Since 1994, the Colorado Children’s Chorale has offered instruction to students and support for music teachers with professional conductors, accompanists, choreographers and other resources, at no charge, to more than 15,500 students in 51 schools and agencies across the Denver metro area. Each year up to eight schools partner with the Chorale, each with a program tailored to the specific needs of particular classrooms.
- Offer a music specialist the opportunity to collaborate with professionals in their field, teaching choral singing and performing skills, working within the framework of their own program
- Bring a level of professional performance and high expectations to participating students
- Incorporate critical life skills such as discipline, responsibility, teamwork and respect for others — all in their own school community with no audition requirement
- Align with the Colorado Model Content Standards in Music (adopted 1997), Dance (adopted 2000) and Theater (adopted 2000) as adopted by the Colorado Department of Education
“I cannot fully express the tremendous impact you had and continue to have on my choir programs. The children in the choirs learned an incredible amount from you about singing techniques, choreography and performance skills. Your enthusiastic style combined with your immense skill thrilled the choirs and kept them focused throughout rehearsals. I now have the confidence and abilities to run a successful choir.” — Donna Bowden, music teacher at Barrett and Stedman Elementary Schools, at the end of a two-year school partnership
